Virgin Islands: One of our favourite cruise destinations

World-famous diving spot

The Virgin Islands, a must for scuba divers and snorkeling enthusiasts, is Buck Island Reef National Monument, located off St Croix (USVI). This reef is a truly unique destination, recognized as one of the most impressive seabeds and considered the best underwater national monument in the entire U.S. Virgin Islands.

A diverse landscape for hiking

Virgin Islands National Park in St John (USVI) is one of the best-known and most visited parks in the Caribbean. Covering two-thirds of the island, this superb region, where fabulous flora and fauna flourish naturally, is full of surprises at every turn. As you hike, you’ll encounter exotic plants and be dazzled by a multitude of tropical birds and other wildlife, from lizards to green iguanas. Then there’s the fascinating history to discover, a real journey back in time, as you pass amazing sugar plantations and ancient petroglyphs. Finally, what better way to end this amazing hike than by relaxing on a pristine beach fringed by lush nature and bathed by waves glistening in the sun.

The best place to admire a legendary site

During your luxury yacht cruise on these sublime waters, you might be tempted to visit the place evoked in the adventure novel ‘Treasure Island’ – Norman Island. You can find this secluded island by sailing around the BVI, heading towards Norman Island and passing near Deadman Bay. Drop anchor for an afternoon, evening or even a night away from the Bight and enjoy the absolute tranquility as you imagine the adventurous days when pirates ruled these shores. Norman Island is one of those picturesque ‘Little Sister’ Islands in the southern part of the BVI, and nearby you’ll find Dead Chest Island, which also features in the famous children’s adventure book.

Relaxation and surfing on a laid-back island

Jost Van Dyke, located in the British Virgin Islands, is the ideal place to let off steam. Imagine yourself on one of these heavenly beaches surrounded by verdant mountains, powdery white sand between your toes. Then enjoy the warm welcome of the locals as you anchor your yacht between White Bay and Great Harbour and head for one of the island’s finest institutions, the Soggy Dollar Bar (an authentic surf bar). This surf beach café, established in the 1970s, exudes a relaxed Caribbean ambience.

Outstanding beaches

In the Virgin Islands, every beach is simply blessed with natural beauty. The hardest part is choosing which one to visit. If you love discovering unusual geological sights, The Baths National Park at the southern tip of Virgin Gorda is a must. This first-rate attraction is home to an intriguing rock formation, formed by the seismic activity of ancient volcanoes. These clusters of rocks have created secret coves and natural pools where coral reefs abound and can be observed in all their splendor while snorkeling. One of the most picturesque places to admire these famous rocks is Devil’s Bay, where you can enjoy wonderful walks and hikes.
